Ryan, I am painting over something, first with primer. I can still see the old painting on the back. Do you know if it would be okay to prime the back too?

I have watched many great painters and all have taught me so much in very different ways. I appreciate your constant instruction with all of your strokes while you are painting which most artists can not do while they are painting. It is very difficult to use both sides of the brain at the same time! Lol I love how you constantly use art vocabulary that is so formally educational that allows for a more well rounded instructional setting. You easily convey your art knowledge that makes you a wonderful art teacher. You could easily be teaching for a university but make your self available for us so thank you so much for your time and effort! You have no idea how much you have taught me!

i am glad you said it: I will never buy animal based paint. I would not enjoy a stroke of any colour on my canvas if I know an animal has been killed for the creation of this colour

So true ! I started to buy all kinds of colors and now i am stucked. Have to go back to basic πŸ˜› I struggle with to get the nice transision. Making greys is not to use complementary colors yes ? First you make the complementary and then the 5 in values ? Very confusing for me how to make the transisions yes i hope you can explain it for me in text. Among others i have a tube of hookers green, what colors a good to use with that to make earth colors ? Thank you for great lessons πŸ™‚

I just recently bought tubes of the primary colors. I am running out of room with all the different paint tubes I have lying around and want to simplify things, lol.

Could you please do a video about mixing the basic colors? If you can apply this colors for different objects ( examples: mountains, sky, trees , lake….). Thanks, for your 10 minute painting videos. I'm a beginner painting. I would like to see how you mixing colors.

Thank you so much, Ryan! This is awesome that now we have Q&A, it aids to streamline understanding of painting process. I do love small canvases for all the same reasons: they are not overwhelming you while you still are a beginner, you are getting a sense of achievement way faster, and can jump into the next one sooner, so learn quicker πŸ™‚ Overall, your progress is more dynamic. Plus, they are really easy to be displayed πŸ™‚ I did look up the thirds info, and also found some deeper explanation on this over on your Patreon, so hopefully will improve on my compositions. With all that being said, thanks again for helping us to be creative ))))

  26. Katie Keefe says

Are you going to do anymore landscapes within an animal shape? With that being said, it may be a bit much to ask for a a ten minute painting but I am also a patreon supporter.
Thank you for all the help, just like you started with watching Lisa Lachri, and due to the nature of YouTube found you πŸ™‚ love your work

  27. Sue Chester says

    great job!!! enjoyed your tips!

In my opinion, magenta, cyan, and yellow make better mixes. Red/blue/yellow give me problems. I like super-bright colors, though. πŸ™‚ I very much prefer to make my own color mixes.. it's a huge part of the fun of painting, IMO.
