Acrylic pouring is so satisfying and fun, especially if you’re open to experimenting with different tools and techniques, like the string pull method. Today we tried pulling an even longer piece of cotton twine, and the truth is we needed two pairs of hands for this one! Watch the satisfying video and share your thoughts below!
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and suggestions in the comments! For the string pull technique, we prep the acrylic paint the same as for acrylic pouring, with water and floetrol. For this project, we’ve also added some silicone fluid, here are the exact proportions:
1 oz of acrylic paint
1 oz of floetrol
0.5 oz of water
5-6 drops of silicone fluid in each color
As you can see in the video, we poured the colored paint on the cotton twine, near the canvas. We covered the canvas with a white base, made with white acrylic paint, also prepped with floetrol and water. Very carefully, we placed the string in a spiral shape – note that we needed 2 pairs of hands for this one. We slowly pulled the string, and at the end we pulled up the excess paint in the middle, using a syringe. What do you think it looks like?
