I bought this because I'm an artist and i paint, a lot. I also paint as a hobby and as such white is one of the colors I use the most. I bought this for crafts only, to use on paper, canvas and fabric. For years I've used acrylic paint to make patches and apparel, drawings and cards. This was the first time in my life where I used acrylic paint on fabric and it turned to dust. When dry the paint will crackle and fall off any fabric-like surface, including canvas. It makes a dusty, chalky mess and comes off too easily, even when soaked into thin fabrics. It ruined many of my crafts before I realized that it was this specific paint that was the problem. I have not used it since, so most of the container is still full and I feel like it was a complete waste of money. On paper it does not fall off when dry but it will become yellowed and crackle just the same.I do not recommend this product as there are certainly better ones, as in ones you can actually use for their intended purpose.
I usually don’t review on Amazon if everything is good, but this paint is so terrible that I felt compelled to leave a negative review. The paint cracks badly when dries, leaving deep grooves on the paintings. Other colors from Apple Barrel were fine, just wherever the white was used, that part was guaranteed to crack without exception. I should’ve read the other reviews when bought this.
Sometimes you just need a large amount of okay-quality paint for a reasonable price--and this is it. if you can get 16oz for about $5, you're getting a good deal. Yes, i know "serious" painters say to buy better quality paints, but honestly, I'm a casual DIY arts & crafts kind of person, and I'm fine if my artwork is never featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Do I plan to keep the artwork I make for decades? No, probably not. I'll get tired of it long before it starts to degrade. So if that's the case, then I just need a large quantity of affordable paint---it doesn't have to be The Best. It just has to be Good Enough.FYI--if you are into acrylic pouring, I find that this paint works well at a 1:1 ratio with Floetrol. Or even Floetrol plus some water for good measure. It's fluid, and dries very quickly. A small canvas is dry in less than 1.5 hours. Looks good coated with Minwax Polycrylic---but frankly, I've also used gloss Mod Podge for small pieces and it was fine.
