Art 101 USA Budding Artist 154 Piece Junior Artist Trifold Easel Art Set, White

★★★★☆ This is a really nice set for your child. You know, the one who is responsible and puts away each color in their place before taking out the next color, just like you said. We've all got one of those. I got it for my 3 year old. You really don't appreciate how many pieces there are until after you've rounded up all 154 of them from various parts of the house. To give you an idea of how tedious that task is, take three decks of of playing cards, open them up (you can remove the jokers and the instructions for the sake of fairness) and then walk around your house, flinging handfuls of cards willy-nilly every 10-15 steps. Now imagine how easy it would be to spot and pick up all of those cards, as they would tend not to roll around and end up under every conceivable nook and cranny. Not so much so with 154 rolling objects. She ended up playing with the miniature plastic scissors which wouldn't cut paper more than anything else though. Playing with is not the right word there - she was frustrated by how this simple machine wouldn't perform its most basic and essential task almost as much as I was - but safety first. She was terribly excited to see all of those colors though, so I guess it was worth it.

★★☆☆☆ I give this 2 stars.I had high hopes for this set, but it didn't even come slightly close.The pros: it's portable, it came with paper & 2 paper clips that we can actually use for something else. The markers work, surprisingly.The cons: The easel is cheap, flimsy, and doesn't hold up once pressure is applied.The picture shows 2 children using it at the same time. Ours could not be used by a second child at the same time. One side is the length needed to hold the paper it comes with, the other side was 1/4 of that length. Did we simply get a bad easel??The oil pastels are not really pastels, and color like cheap waxy crayons. The scissors broke RIGHT away, didn't even get to cut a single piece of paper.The crayons are not the best quality.

★☆☆☆☆ This item arrived in a box, and was wrapped in plastic. I wrapped it like it arrived for Christmas. When my grand daughter opened the plastic case practically feel apart in her little hands. All the seams were cracking or breaking apart. I had pieces of black plastic all over the floor. And all the pieces inside the art kit didn't stay in place. All the paint circles were all over and broken. Horrible! I'm not returning it because my grand daughter loved it. I guess that's all that really mattered, but her parents weren't happy, and I was embarrassed. Praying my grand daughter does not get cut from the sharp edges that I tried to tape up. : (
