Welcome to ‘Out and About with Paul’ where you join Artist & Author Paul Taggart at his easel painting on-the-spot during various events.

“Working with Line & Wash need not be about precise linework, nor need it be about detailed linework. In this box-set Paul shows how it can be about working in a manner that allows you to be dynamic, free-flowing and suggestive.

Of course there is a place for precise and detailed linework – Paul is not saying there isn’t; for as with everything in creating artworks, it is a matter of individual style and approach.

However, in this box-set, Paul sets out to demonstrate a variety of approaches across a number of different subjects; using various tools for his linework as introduced in the Painting Equipment Focus video.

In the four ‘Out and About with Paul’ tutorials, you are guided from the simplest of studies, executed with the lightest of touches, in which sunlight and reflections are the essence of the scene.

Then on to another, where changing light conditions affect two views, captured at different times of the day – two structural studies, one a boat, the other a building.

Thirdly, a two-part subject, in which a troupe of eight dancers performing for a brief fifteen minutes in an event, form a tableau of moving figures within a montage painting.

Not only an object lesson in how to capture multiple full-figure portraits; but also an invaluable lesson in ‘painting’ white.

Finally, a strong and bold subject, requiring a strong and bold approach completes this set; a set in which Paul works with different brushes and coloured inks for the linework and exploits several watercolour techniques for the ‘washes’ of colour.

Filmed in real-time, with close up shots so that you can see Paul’s brush-strokes, colour mixes and more, you not only get to peek over Paul’s shoulder as he works; you will also pick up a host of hints and tips from his detailed running commentary.

Value-for-money is our philosophy and this box-set is available to rent or buy at a fraction of the cost that you would pay for a similar overall length DVD.

Best wishes for your painting, from Eileen and Paul
