Although this is a build-up set of tutorials, taking you step-by-step through the painting process – for an oil painting … another in acrylics … one in pastels … and a fourth in watercolours – it is so much more than that.
Because, we have carefully chosen four different techniques, to show how these could be adapted for use in more than one medium. For instance, the workshop in oils can be adapted for use with acrylics and the watercolour workshop can be adapted for use with pastels. So, don’t just watch the medium that you currently work in. It really is worth your while exploring the other workshops as well, for in doing that, you will add so much to your painting knowledge.
We kick off with Episode 1 – in which I guide you through the process of composing the painting – from the reference gathering and thumbnails, to drawing out the composition on the surface. We then move on to cover the process of blocking-in – in which I show you various approaches to this first, underpainting layer. From Episode 4 onwards, we move on to the four different workshops, releasing each episode in rotation.
