While we use these paints for our art classes liberally, buying them online has been a nightmare. You can only rely on the color-chart at your own-risk. The colors have been named/identified by someone with a serious problem. One, "Cadmium Red - Light Hue" is the color of an orange traffic cone. Looking at the color-chart provided in the item listing, we expected a vermilion, but that one isn't even close. Just call it fluorescent orange and be done with it! And "Magenta - Medium"? Pepto-Bismol pink! In what universe is that magenta?? The makers of these paints are on the paint-ID struggle-bus. When photos of the actual tube are provided, go with those. The chart is a lie.
I bought the bronze color paint. I chose it going by the color shown in the photos rather than what they named the color (risky, I know) because I wanted something copper-toned that wasn't *too* red or pink, but more of a natural copper color. This fits the bill. The paint is a reddish brown "penny" color under normal light, not a yellowish brown color like actual bronze usually is -- if you're looking for a bronze color. However, when light reflects straight off of it, sometimes it can have a golden/bronze cast depending on the angle. The paint isn't super thick, it goes on evenly and smoothly. If you want really good coverage, you'll need to put on more than one layer of paint, and preferably over a darker color. I did swatches of 1, 2, and 3 layers on black and white sketch paper using a soft brush. Getting a good photo was impossible because of the metallic reflection. I took one with light overhead and one without.Overall it would be better if it was more pigmented, but it's really not bad for what it is. I'm planning on using it for decorative purposes anyway, probably with a copper-toned or brown basecoat and this on top.
I LOVE Liquitex Basics acrylic paint! I think I have every color! I've never had any issues with them being too thin as I have with other brands. Colors are vibrant.
