These have been a staple for our cat's enjoyment since we got him three years ago. They're everywhere throughout our house. Guests have returned home only to find one in their suitcase. However, sometime back our cat had a sore in the corner of his mouth and lower lip. The vet could not determine what it was and gave us a liquid medication to apply as needed. The condition would get better and then come back. These springs often get tangled in electrical cords or stuck under a piece of furniture, and the cat will pull at them and sometimes the end will snap back out of his mouth. That got me thinking that the relatively sharp ends might be grabbing at his lip when they snap. So I tried blunting the ends of every, single spring toy in the house by using needle nose pliers to bend back about 3/16" to1/4" of each end onto itself as shown in the photo. I've been doing this for about four months and there have been no issues with lip sores. Having to make this modification is the only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review and ending with the first paragraph. While it would increase the cost, it would be wonderful if the manufacturer would blunt the ends so this modification isn't necessary.

Especially my 7 month-old kitties, littermates Izzie & Ollie. They both play with them a great deal but this has become Ollie's favorite toy. You will see him carrying them around the house in his little mouth, up and down the stairs and, much to my delight has begun bringing them to me to throw so he can chase them and bring them back. My cat fetches! And I discovered this because of these little springs. (The video I've included is the first night I realized he wanted to play "fetch" with them)I'm not sure if they love these because they look like something they shouldn't be playing with, but all three of my younger cats play with them all the time (the two 7 month-olds and our 10 month-old). The older cats (7 and 12 years) will bat them around sometimes, but the younger ones seem to get the most fun out of playing and carrying these around.I highly recommend these if you have kittens or young cats. They really do seem to enjoy them and they're easy for them to pick up with claws or bite and hold in their mouths. They've also held up, I haven't noticed any chips or any broken ones (yet). I do know another reviewer had an issue with this and their cats but we've had no breakage.
I had to buy more of these spring toys because of their AWESOMENESS. They’re so light, springy and the best part is they’re QUIET, so no annoying jingle bell to hear. I’ve never seen a cat LOVE a toy so much. They bounce across my hardwood floors so easily and they “boink” just as great on the carpeted areas of my house. My cat will literally play with these springs for hours. He has over 20 of them, so one can always be found when looking. If he’s not whacking them across the room he’s carrying one in his mouth or he is sleeping with one. This one particular spring matches his neon green nails perfectly. Lol (He’s wearing kitty caps to cover his sharp claws instead of declawing). He has learned how to play “Fetch” as he will drop them right in front of me and I will throw it back out for him to chase. He will do this in excess of over 10 times before he tires himself out. So fun! There are 10 colorful springs in each pack, so it’s definitely affordable. I bought this several times so I could give the springs away, individually, as gifts to friends’ cats and to my patients’ cats. (I’m a Homecare RN) I see the price went up a lot on these, but they’re such a hit, it’s worth it at 45 cents a spring. Life gets real hard sometimes... so being entertained for a few minutes while watching your cat rolling around the ground, completely intrigued with flipping around a cheap bouncy springy thing, is strangely “healing” in itself. I can’t believe I spent this much time reviewing a cat toy... but I’ve found a winner and I love sharing the fun, and my cute kitty photos, with others.
