‘Watercolours Workshop, Landscape with Figures in Line and Wash, with Paul Taggart’

“Welcome to our studio in the Highlands of Scotland, from where we bring you this complete, stand-alone, start-to-finish, work-along Workshop in Watercolours, using the Line and Wash technique – covered in six episodes in this box-set, which you can download to own forever.

Although this workshop is available in segments, as part of the current FREE4YOU bundle that includes Oils, Pastels and Acrylics – details of which can be found on this VODPage – https://vimeo.com/ondemand/freepaintingworkshops – we have created this dedicated box-set for anyone who prefers to work-along purely with the Watercolours workshop, one that can be download to own forever and can be viewed without interruption from the other three media.

Fully narrated throughout and filmed in real time – as with all of our painting tutorials – I guide you step-by-step through the entire composition, from the first reference gathering, thumbnails and drawing-out, through the layers to the very last strokes of paint and pencil; with all colour mixes demonstrated on my palette.

SUBJECT – when we select subjects for our tutorials, we carefully choose subjects that would best suit the technique that I am demonstrating – so it is with the subjects featured in this composition; which are intended to help you become more confident about including figures in a landscape, understand the value of aerial perspective and deal with the various angles and perspective of subjects such as buildings and a boat.

The TECHNIQUE of Line & Wash was chosen to not only demonstrate the flexibility of this technique, but also it’s beauty, a result that I liken to the effect of a stained-glass window; where the strength of light shining through the coloured/stained glass is reflected in the transparent characteristics and purity of watercolour paint; in which the colour is contained within a descriptive line, which can be applied with a variety of different materials.

Experimenting with different approaches, different materials and different techniques (such as Wet on Wet, Wet on Dry), is key to developing the Line and Wash technique further – you will have much to enjoy in approaching different subjects with different methods.

We look forward to your company and as always, send you best wishes for your painting, from Eileen and myself.”
