‘Painting Equipment Focus for Watercolours’ with Paul Taggart – Trailer

Welcome to Painting Equipment Focus for Watercolours – in which each video concentrates on one painting tool, how to exploit its characteristics and how to maximise its usage. It has always been my belief that being shown how to work effectively with a limited painting kit is far more fulfilling than possessing vast quantities of brushes, paints etc. Which is why my watercolour tutorials are based on a core kit, which forms the basis of my own :-

Six Watercolour Paints – the six-colour nucleus of the colour circle, from which you can mix nearly all of the colours ever needed. Although I favour tubes for their flexibility; pan colours are given an airing here as I explain the nature of watercolour paints, how to use tube versus pan colours, how to effectively lay out your paints, how to save your paint and stop waste – and so on.

Two Round Brushes – my kit comprises one medium sized round brush and one large. In this video I demonstrate different brush-strokes, how to hold and handle the brush for maximum usage and more, such as how to load the brush.

The Hake Brush – have you ever had trouble working wet-on-wet? Want to know which brush to use to wet an already-painted area? Look no further than the hake – an essential tool.

A Flat Palette – makes working with watercolours so much easier, as you will see; not to mention giving you a more positive approach to colour mixing.

Masking Fluid – is not a ‘cheat’, as many are led to believe, neither is it one of the most difficult to work with, for it is only a question of knowing how; as I show here.

Stretched Watercolour Paper – the sheer frustration of not stretching paper successfully is known to everyone – something I hope to help you overcome with this detailed and simple guide.

IN ADDITION – two Problem Solvers, in response to a couple of queries ‘posted’ on-line for me to resolve.

As with all of my videos, these are filmed in real-time, so that you can watch every detail accompanied by my running commentary.

Best wishes for your painting, from Eileen and Paul
