  2. Maybe sometime you could do a ten minute painting like the one of yours you showed, the couple running over the hill, holing hands at sundown.

So to solve your curtain on a string DIY, you can buy retractable clothes lines for apartments that you can connect to the one side and draw across to the other or you can get a metal twist wire that is somewhat flexible. Put an eye hook on the side where you want the curtain to hang then draw it across to where you have the hook. The wire is really fairly thin but much stronger than string and doesn't stretch like the string does. Home Depot has it in the section where the picture frame hooks are in packets.
