Greetings from our studio in the Highlands of Scotland; where we film all of the tutorials that make up our various video-on-demand box-sets available on artworkshopwithpaul via Vimeo.

Painting is my life and my passion and it has been my pleasure to share that passion throughout the forty five years of my life as a Professional Fine Artist, Author of fourteen books and Presenter/Producer of the 400plus online videos that are currently available.

Technique was a ‘dirty’ word when I was attending art college, because it was deemed to stifle creativity – I do not subscribe to that belief; which is why it is my philosophy to reveal all and hold nothing back.

Authenticity is key to our work … which is why we select subjects as dedicated tutorials and film in real-time so that you get to watch-along with me from the absolute start to the very last stroke.

Each tutorial is also accompanied by my running commentary throughout – so that you can work-along with me, without fear of missing any hint, tip, technique, brush-stroke or colour mix.

We are also mindful of our worldwide audience and the affordability of our tutorials … which is why we price them as low as possible.

You can either rent each video at $1 … or better still, buy our tutorials outright … to watch time and time again, at a pace to suit you – which is something you can’t do when attending a class.

Each series of ‘Learn to Enjoy Painting with Paul Taggart’ covers specific media and techniques in oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels.

These are accompanied by companion ‘Painting Topical Techniques with Paul Taggart’ – all of which are detailed tutorials to help you further.

For example … ‘[Series 3] of Learn to Enjoy Painting in Oils with Paul Taggart’, which concentrates on the method of working with impasto, features a study piece, followed by the main composition, both of which you can follow every step of the way.

In the companion ‘[Series 3] Painting Topical Techniques for Oils with Paul Taggart’ you will find a tutorial on the basics of the impasto technique, followed by an Exercise tutorial. And there are more tutorials in this box-set which will prove invaluable in your painting repertoire, not just for when you’re using impasto.

‘Painting Equipment Focus with Paul Taggart’ is not about reviewing products … these box-sets are about the function of specific tools in specific media and how to use them – such as brushes for watercolours, pastels sticks, texture paste etc.

‘Learn to Enjoy Colour Mixing with Paul Taggart’ is an on-going, build-up series in which I set out to demystify the art of colour mixing through a simplified approach – so that you can fully enjoy the experience of mixing colours for yourself, from a nucleus palette of just six colours.

There are also various ‘Workshops with Paul Taggart’ and ‘Out and About with Paul’ box-sets, which again, are detailed work-along tutorials – no speed-paintings, nothing is edited out, just me at my easel, sharing everything for you to follow.

‘Learn to Enjoy Painting Portraits and Figures with Paul Taggart’ is another on-going series, which we intend to build-up into a comprehensive index of tutorials. Starting off with a box-set in which I demonstrate the basics of features, how to draw and paint them.

And finally, ‘Masterclass with Paul Taggart’, in which you are invited to look over my shoulder as I work on sections of one of my own Principal Collection paintings.

We do hope that in sharing my passion and the traditional techniques that I use in my work, we can help you expand your repertoire of methods and enjoy your painting experience that little bit more.

As ever, this welcome comes with best wishes for your painting, from Eileen and myself
